Senator Tim Knopp - endorser

Oregon Senator
Oregon

I took an oath to uphold the Constitution and our laws and SB 833 strengthens neither. I voted against SB 833 because it fails to solve the problems that exist and it makes Oregonians less safe.

When Oregon was faced with responding to the passage of the federal Real ID Act the Legislature in 2008 passed Senate Bill 1080. SB 1080 required proof of legal U.S. residency to receive an Oregon driver’s license. It was the the right policy response and it makes Oregonians safer.
