This Saturday, September 27, Oregonians for Immigration Reform and the Protect Oregon Driver Licenses committee will hold a meeting and afterwards a demonstration marking the beginning of their drive to win a NO vote on Ballot Measure 88 and overturn SB 833, the Legislature’s bill giving official driving privileges and ID to illegal aliens.

The meeting will be held at 2:00 pm, at the Best Western Mill Creek Inn in Salem. Driving directions below.

Special guest speaker will be Derek Hernandez, Vice President Western Region, National Border Patrol Council. Derek brings first-hand knowledge of the immigration crisis at the border, and will speak from his experience about the attraction of a state-issued ID like a driver card, and why it’s important for citizens to vote NO on Measure 88.

Additional guests whom OFIR-PODL is honored to welcome are Representative Sal Esquivel, of Medford, and Representative Kim Thatcher of Keizer. Both are Sponsors of the Veto Referendum on SB 833 which became Ballot Measure 88.

At this meeting, members will be able to pick up “No on Measure 88” lawn signs to take home and place in varied locations.

Immediately after the meeting we will host a “NO on 88” rally on the sidewalks of Mission Street (State Rd. 22), adjoining the Costco parking lot. We will wave our NO on 88 signs to the passing traffic. Members may bring American flags to wave, too.

To learn more about the Protect Oregon Driver Licenses campaign, please visit the PODL website . It contains complete information about the campaign and includes endorsement statements by many law enforcement officials who oppose giving driver cards to illegal aliens. Leading the list is the statement of the Sheriffs of Oregon PAC, in strong opposition. /endorsers

The November 4, 2014 election is rapidly approaching and citizens will have the opportunity to vote NO on Measure 88. Open-borders supporters including wealthy unions, businesses that profit from illegal labor, ideological and ethnic lobbies are currently spending over $211,000 to pass SB 833, the bill that would give illegal aliens an official Oregon driver card. In contrast, OFIR and PODL are composed of unpaid volunteers who have nothing to gain personally from their efforts other than the preservation of the safety and well-being of this state and nation.
